Sun Yat-sens Residence located in 23 Zhang Road
Sun Yat-sen’s Residence (in simplified Chinese 孙中山行宫) is located in 23 Zhang Road. In the Ming dynasty it was actually the home of the emperor Chongzhen’s wife, called Spring Garden. This land was later been used by the late Qing Dynasty as a park. During early years of the Republic it was the chief diplomatic residential Wellington Koo.
Sun Yat-sen, after discussing with his family in 1924, decided to live in this place. He also used this place as an office for handling the affairs of the state. On March 12, 1925, Sun Yat-sen died in the bedroom in this residence, three days after the transfer of Hope Temple in Xiangshan. Here it is one of the key units to be protected in Beijing.
As mentioned above, Father of modern China, Mr. Sun, died in this residence. Therefore, in history of China, it is at a quite important position. If you would like to know more about Chinese history and you would like to know about the life of Mr. Sun in the past, you should try to visit this residence.
There is no doubt that Mr. Sun had quite a number of residences in China. However, as mentioned above, this residence is the place where he left the world. Therefore, it would be quite different from the other residences in meaning.
If you would like to experience the life of the previous Chinese leader, and understand more about how he made decisions that affects the whole world, you could try to visit this residence and you would be able to see a lot of things used by Mr. Sun and also the simple building structure. You would know more about the life of people in that period and probably get to know about how China grew from a poor country to a rich one like now.
Of course, when visiting this residence, the view you see might not be very attractive or beautiful, but simple and meaningful.
