Zhongnanhai (in simplified Chinese中南海) is located at Xicheng District. It was the open sea in the Jin and Yuan Dynasty and later it was turned to South China Sea in the early Ming Dynasty, Qing Dynasty and it was collectively known as Court ban.

The main building of the Zhongnanhai includes Shuiyun pavilion and there is a sentence in the middle of the pavilion written as “The autumn wind is too fluid,” and the monument is for “Yanjing Eight”. In addition there is Ziguangge, such as banana garden. Yingtai has main features for the South China Sea (Zhongnanhai) and there are Luan Xiang Ge, Dian-yuan Han, Dian-Xiang Habitat (the Penglai Pavilion), Ying-ting, and smoked building. There are also a lot of flowers, rocks, pavilions and some flowers live over the water, which are beautiful and pleasant. The Zhongnanhai has some gardens, the Huairen Hall and other halls in the building sea. In the early years of the Republic has established the Office of the President here.

After the founding of People’s Republic of China, Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai, Liu Shaoqi, Zhu De and other party and state leaders have to live here, and this is also the office for the Communist Party of China Central Committee. Now it is one of the national key units to be protected.

Zhongnanhai is really very meaningful in terms of Chinese’s modern history. It is one of the headquarters of the Chinese government and there are a lot of special designs in this Zhongnanhai in order to facilitate the work of the Chinese leaders.

Of course, as mentioned above, the Zhongnanhai is one of the most important sites in Beijing in terms of political affairs, you might not be allowed to enter this place easily. However, if you are visiting Beijing and you would like to have a closer look at the Zhongnanhai, you could still try to stop at a distance from it and see how the office of Chinese leaders look like.

Fragrant Hills Park (in simplified Chinese 香山公园) is located in the suburbs of Beijing Xishan, in Beijing’s northwest, 28 kilometers downtown area. The total area of the park was 160 hectares, and it is a forest park with long history and rich natural taste.

Xiangshan Park has beautiful natural scenery, especially the Xiangshan red leaves which are very well-known. Every autumn frost, the leaves would be all over the mountain and the view was very magnificent. At this point, visitors, tourists sitting in the cable car climbing, could have the view of the leaves all over the hill, and it is a rare treat. The important cultural relics and scenic spots brief introduction as follows:

Orient House Park is located at the main entrance door, by the Qianlong emperor, when the expansion of Providence Park was built and is still preserved the original shape. There are a lot of sections in the Park and different sections serve as different functions. For example, there is a park in the Park for the emperor to handle the nation’s matter and there is a park for the officers to discuss the matters and wait for the policies from the Emperor. There was also a big library for the Emperor and officers to study the materials of the past dynasty. All these are similar to that in the Palace, right? That’s the point.

Actually, the emperor thought that having a relax time in the Park was very great. However, on the other hand, he should not totally ignore the people in the nation. He should not just spend all the time playing and not handling the national matters. Therefore, some sections were set up for the Emperor to work in case there is something emergent happened that needed the emperor’s decision to solve the problem.

The Park is really very attractive and it is surely worthwhile for you to visit there if you have a chance to go to Beijing. It is not as famous as the Palace or the Great Wall, but it is gigantic and wonderful.

Sun Yat-sen’s Residence (in simplified Chinese 孙中山行宫) is located in 23 Zhang Road. In the Ming dynasty it was actually the home of the emperor Chongzhen’s wife, called Spring Garden. This land was later been used by the late Qing Dynasty as a park. During early years of the Republic it was the chief diplomatic residential Wellington Koo.

Sun Yat-sen, after discussing with his family in 1924, decided to live in this place. He also used this place as an office for handling the affairs of the state. On March 12, 1925, Sun Yat-sen died in the bedroom in this residence, three days after the transfer of Hope Temple in Xiangshan. Here it is one of the key units to be protected in Beijing.

As mentioned above, Father of modern China, Mr. Sun, died in this residence. Therefore, in history of China, it is at a quite important position. If you would like to know more about Chinese history and you would like to know about the life of Mr. Sun in the past, you should try to visit this residence.

There is no doubt that Mr. Sun had quite a number of residences in China. However, as mentioned above, this residence is the place where he left the world. Therefore, it would be quite different from the other residences in meaning.

If you would like to experience the life of the previous Chinese leader, and understand more about how he made decisions that affects the whole world, you could try to visit this residence and you would be able to see a lot of things used by Mr. Sun and also the simple building structure. You would know more about the life of people in that period and probably get to know about how China grew from a poor country to a rich one like now.

Of course, when visiting this residence, the view you see might not be very attractive or beautiful, but simple and meaningful.

Beijing Song Temple and Intelligence Temple (in simplified Chinese北京嵩祝寺及智珠寺) are located at Back Street in Dongcheng District. There were in a row of three large temples: the East for the Law-Yuan Temple, the central part for Song Temple, and the west it is the Intelligence Temple. These temples are the remains in the Han Ming Dynasty and are renovated by the fans of these temples as well as the religious associations.

Before and after the Law Yuan Temple there are totally 5 halls, including the Shanmen Hall, King Hall, Measureless Hall, Main Hall and the Backyard. Sadly, all these halls are abandoned nowadays.

For the beautiful Intelligence Temple, it consists of six floors, having the Shanmen Hall for the first layer and the Bell-Drum, the King Hall for the second layer and the third layer for Quartet of the Middle Temple. The fourth layer is the backyard and it is also known as Dian bidet and for the Fifth layer, it brings up about 2 big rooms.

Yes, the Beijing Song Temple and Intelligence Temple actually consists of 2 temples that are closely located together and this feature is quite rare in Beijing. You would hardly find two temples so near and therefore, if you would like to see some temples with beautiful artwork in one time quickly, you could try to visit this Beijing Song Temple and Intelligence Temple.

In fact, as mentioned above, part of the Beijing Song Temple and Intelligence Temple had been abandoned and therefore, you might not be able to see the whole view of the temples that existed in the past. However, the remaining ones are already enough to amaze you.

If you are going to Beijing and if you would like to know about the ancient Chinese religions, you could spare some time to visit the Beijing Song Temple and Intelligence Temple. You would surely know more about how these temples grew in popularity and decline.

Beijing Tong Education Temple (in simplified Chinese北京通教寺) is located in 19 North Needlework street. The temple covers an area of more than 2.5 thousand square meters. It was built in the Ming Dynasty and in Qing Dynasty it changed its name to “Tong Education Buddhist temple.” In 1942 under the supervision of the monks coming from Fujian to Beijing, the temple was opened, and there were two monks managing the temple. After a monastery expansion, the temple changed its name to “Tong Education Temple.”

Qualcomm Education section at Temple had undergone several renovation works, adding the western end of the temple for the Main Hall and also the second floor. The North wing has the West Hall for Garan and there are seven southern side halls in the temple, three for the middle and both sides equally share the rest ones. As a founder of the West Temple, Tung Tau has a room named after him. In 1943, Marconi set up the new education section in the temple to teach poor children, and Education Temple took the chance to raise fund and renovate itself to build book store, and early in 1981, the temple was re-repair and became much well-facilitated for being a temple providing education for children.

The temple is quite special in China, because it has a quite large area and there are a lot of great artworks in the temple. This temple, in fact, does not carry a strong sense of religion and instead, it is a quite good place for people to have a relaxing holiday.

When staying in this temple, you would be able to look at the nature in a relaxing manner and you would be able to feel the power of nature and after visiting the temple, you would find that the little breeze in the temple is very enjoyable and the beautiful relaxing view would seldom be found in nature.

Therefore, if you are fed up with the busy city life, try visiting this temple and you might have a new perspective towards life.

Beijing People’s Heroic Monument (in simplified Chinese北京人民英雄纪念碑) is located in Tiananmen Square Center. At September 30, 1949 the Chinese People’s Political Consultative first plenary session adopted a resolution to build the monument, and the foundation stone of the monument was laid by Mao, the Chinese leader at that period. After extensive discussion by the National the monument type was determined in August 1952 in an official building, and it was completed in April 1958. At May 1 the same year, the grand opening of the monument was held.

Having 37.94 meters high, the monument was divided into two levels, surrounded by white marble railing, with a lot of steps. Block-shaped bottom was 5044 meters wide from east to west, and it is 61.5 meters long from north to south. The top was a square block. There is the size of a two-tier pedestal. The monument has the names of different heroes in different events, including the “54″ exercise, “530″ campaign, the Nanchang Uprising, the anti-Japanese guerrilla warfare, and the theme of the victory of crossing the Yangtze River. At usual days, the security of this monument would be maintained by the People’s Liberation Army. Besides names, there is also a lively summary of the last century’s history of China, particularly those related to people’s revolution.

In the upper small tower there are peony, lotus, chrysanthemum, pendants and other mantle composed of eight rosettes. The Heart monument is 14.7 meters, 2.9 meters wide, one meter thick, and it weighs 103 tons.

The Heart Monument is located at the north of this monument with Mao Zedong inscribing the title “Eternal glory to the People’s Heroes”. The back of the inscription is Zhou Enlai’s writing of “Since the setup of the Republic of China, the people at the people’s liberation war and the revolution of the people lost their lives and they are the heroes!

The Great Wall Beijing Session, 北京万里长城北京段, Great Wall

The Great Wall Beijing Session (in simplified Chinese 北京万里长城北京段) is the most ambitious defense project in ancient China and it was founded in the Spring and Autumn Dynasty (before and after the seventh century BC), before Qin Dynasty’s Great Wall project at west Pro Peach (Minxian Gansu), along Yinshan. This Session is east to Liaodong jieshi, and is as long as Yu Hua Session. The Great Wall Beijing Session is known as “The Great Wall”, and nowadays there are still remains of the Great Wall.

Since the Qi Dynasty, and Northern Zhou Dynasty, different generations have carried out the construction work on the Great Wall. Amendment to the western end of the Han Dynasty’s Great Wall to Dunhuang was also conducted. During the Ming Dynasty, the emperor from the Ming began to start a large-scale construction of the Great Wall, making it start from Jiayuguan west, and east to the Yalu River. Such construction extended the length of the Great Wall to a total distance of about 12600 km.

The Great Wall Beijing Session is the oldest para-Yan Great Wall, which is located in Changping District, about 35 kilometers northwest of the flow on the Western Hills Village, which is an old rural area.

Changping District’s Great Wall is a remain of the ancient Yan Dynasty. This end of the Great Wall was built in the Warring States (BC 283). It was abandoned after reunification or China and therefore, it is now only ruins. Ming Dynasty Great Wall in Beijing was extended to the Great Wall Beijing Session with the Ming one as the main body, and there was semi-circular distribution. The combined Great Wall has a total distance of about 629 kilometers (one of the Ming Dynasty Great Wall ago 73 kilometers), along the city of a total of 827 Units, with 71 check points, and there are troops in each check point. Most of the Great Wall was intact, and some walls are damaged by natural erosion. One of the sessions of the Great Wall includes Badaling Great Wall, Jinshanling Great Wall Mutianyu Great Wall and all are now turned into tourist areas.
